An HVAC design is required for permit for all “new home construction” in the province of Ontario. It must be present when applying for building permit. (O.B.C 9.32)
A HVAC design shows your calculations for Heat Loss & Gain, Ventilation Design, HRV, as well as your ductwork details & schematics based on your particular home design. This HVAC design must be signed & stamped with BCIN by the Mechanical Designer.

When contacting us for your custom home plan – let us know if you’d like us to take care of your HVAC design as well. If you are installing a GEOTHERMAL unit – typically the installers will then provide a HVAC design for you.
**In terms of additions & renovations – depending on the overall scope & size of the addition, a HVAC plan may also be requested. Generally in the past – an HVAC plan is not required, but there have been special situations where it has been necessary. To find out for sure – it is best to contact your local building department**
